Progether — a data-driven health record for prostate cancer
A personal health record turning clinical and DNA data into tailored insight — and, with consent, into research.
The problem
A prostate cancer diagnosis arrives as a pile of documents: pathology reports, imaging, PSA series, genetic panels — each in a different system, none of it connected, and none of it in a shape a patient can reason about.
What we built
Progether is a personal health record built around the patient rather than the clinic. It ingests clinical results and DNA data, normalises them into one timeline, and turns that timeline into tailored insight: what a rising PSA means, which trial criteria a genetic marker matches, what to ask at the next appointment.
Patients could connect with treating physicians through the platform, and — with explicit consent — contribute anonymised data back into research cohorts.
My role
Technical co-founder and Managing Director. I owned the architecture and the engineering team, and carried the platform from prototype to a live product handling real patient data under the compliance regime that implies.
What it took
- A data model that could hold heterogeneous clinical records without flattening the clinical nuance out of them
- Consent as a first-class primitive, not a checkbox — patients granting and revoking access per data category
- A research pipeline that could export cohorts without ever exporting identity
